Cartwright, 73, of Wilmington, DE peacefully passed away while surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, January 4, 2017.A lifelong resident of Wilmington, Joe was born on May 10, 1943 to the late Marion and Julia (Carroll) Cartwright. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, and was employed with NVF for 20 years. Joe was also a member of Corpus Christi Parish. His favorite pastime was working outdoors.Joe will be dearly missed by his wife of 43 years, Angeline (Lawhorn) Cartwright; his sons, Joseph Jr., Jeff and Justin; and his nine beloved grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, William Cartwright and his sister, Elizabeth Eysalt.In addition to his parents, Joe was predeceased by two brothers and four sisters.Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Thursday, January 12 from 5:00-7:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Corpus Christi Church, 905 New Road, Elsmere on Friday, January 13 at 12:30PM.
