Miss Me But Let Me Go

Joseph Drummond

April 26, 1949 - July 14, 2023

GREENWOOD, DE - Joseph Drummond, 74, of Greenwood, Delaware, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.

Joseph was born on April 26, 1949, in a small town where no one remembered the name. Legend has it that the whole town was so thrilled to finally have something interesting happen that they collectively decided to just call him "Drummond" from that day forward.

Drummond had a unique sense of humor that often left people rolling on the floor laughing, sometimes literally, because he was prone to forget where he left his banana peel collection. His favorite pastime was playing pranks on his friends and family. He was renowned for his ability to create ingenious, yet harmless, practical jokes.

One of his most memorable pranks involved swapping his neighbor's mailbox with that of an ostrich farm. For weeks, the postman would scratch his head in confusion while the ostrich rancher received a series of misdelivered love letters from an ardent admirer. Drummond always said, "If you can't bring joy to someone's life, at least bring a bit of laughter."

When he wasn't causing chaos with his mischievous antics, Joseph loved fishing. Although he never caught anything bigger than a trout, his stories of battling sea monsters on his little boat would rival any "Moby Dick" tale. As his kids often pointed out, his imagination was as wide as the ocean itself.

Drummond had a strong passion for cooking, but his experiments in the kitchen were legendary, and not always in a good way. He once tried to make a soufflé that grew so big it physically lifted the roof of his house, causing all his neighbors to scramble for their umbrellas. Until this day, the locals refer to that event as "The Great Soufflé Uprising."

In his professional life, Drummond had a long and distinguished career as a professional sleeper. He took great pride in his ability to doze off at any time, in any place, and under almost any circumstance. Rumor has it that during his infamous "Tedious PowerPoint Presentation" episode, the entire office nodded off together, creating a synchronized snoring symphony that was heard for miles.

Joseph Drummond will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his knack for comedy, and his ability to find humor in even the most mundane moments. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 48 years, Ethel, who will forever cherish the laughter they shared together.

He is survived by his children, Jennifer and Greg, who are currently working on a memoir titled, "Growing up with 'The Maestro of Mirth'". They hope to publish this book and inspire others to embrace laughter and mischief, just as their father had throughout his extraordinary life.

In honor of Joseph's spirit, the family kindly asks that mourners wear colorful attire to his memorial service and remember him with a smile on their faces. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the "National Banana Peel Collection Museum," as nothing would make Joseph happier than knowing his pranks continue to bring laughter to future generations.

Rest in laughter, Joseph Drummond, and may your eternal slumber be filled with hilarious dreams and endless punchlines. You will be sorely missed, but your laughter will forever reverberate in our hearts.

You can to the family or in memory of Joseph Drummond .
