LTC. Chaplain John W. Edgar, US Army, ret., age 86, passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2016. Born in Chicago, Illinois. on June 14, 1930, he was the son of William (Bill) R. and Estella Holly Edgar.

John had been a resident of Boerne, Texas for over 20 years and was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Kendall Lodge #897 A.F. & A.M. and a Past Grand Master and Past Grand Chaplain in the Grand Lodge of Alaska. An Ordained United Methodist Church Minister, he had served as Chaplain in the U.S. Army for 21 years.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his first wife, Lela Larue Edgar.

He is survived by his wife, Deannie Edgar; Vanessa Kay Edgar, his adopted daughter; Jay Willaim Edgar, his adopted son; step-daughters, Susan Odom, Judy Odom, and Lynn Odom; step-sons, Matthew Odom and Daniel Odom; John's grandson, Adam and his granddaughter, Massina, along with several great-grandchildren.
