John Corbin MasonDelmar-John Corbin Mason, 76, of Delmar, passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.He was born on October 16, 1940 in Blades, Delaware, a son of the late Corbin and Mildred Mason.John was a US Navy veteran, serving aboard the USS Wasp CV518 from 1958-1961. He was a graduate of Johns Hopkins University. He worked as a mechanical engineer for Baltimore Gas and Electric Company for 30 years and for the federal government in Washington DC for 10 years. His hobbies included gardening, wood working, and doing crosswords and sudoku. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and traveling.He is survived by his wife, Pauline J. Mason; daughters, Trisha Ryan (Dennis) of Millersville and Denise Ratliff (Bug) of Pasadena; step-children, David Riggin (Pam) of Sykesville, Carolyn Folger (Mike) of Hanover, and Debra Witt (Ken) of Pasadena; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Riggin of Pasadena; and grandchildren, Lauren Ryan, Mary Ann Morrow, Brian Ratliff, Erin Riggin, Jennifer Folger, Amanda Cook, Kenny Witt, Conor Riggin, and Sarah Riggin.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-son, Steven Riggin; and siblings, Donald Mason, Charlotte Griffin, Fay Alascia, and Gail Finch.A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. at Short Funeral Home, 13 East Grove Street in Delmar. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. Pastor Gordon Nock will officiate.
