Arensberg, age 79, of Newark, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 66 Granville Street, Newark, with John's nephew, Father Ed Keck, as celebrant. John passed away Friday, January 27, 2017 at his home. He was born on March 20, 1937 in Newark to the late George W. and Vera (Allison) Arensberg.Mr. Arensberg graduated in 1955 from Newark High School. He served with the United States Army. While living in Michigan, Mr. Arensberg was a licensed real estate broker and appraiser for 27 years. He received his real estate and appraisal degrees from the University of Michigan. He was also a graduate of American Institute of Banking and Employed by Ohio National Bank for 11 years. Mr. Arensberg was a member of the Licking County Veterans Alliance; life member and Past Exalted Ruler of B.P.O. Elks in Michigan and Ohio; past-treasurer of Houghton Lake Rotary Club; past-president of Houghton Lake Chamber of Commerce; and a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Newark.He is survived by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tom and Judy Keck of Newark and Doug and Berneta Volz of Curtis, Michigan; nieces and nephews, Brandon (Ashley) Volz of Charlotte, Michigan, Andrea Volz of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Jenifer (Matthew) Arensberg of Arizona, William (Pat) Keck of Dayton, Mary L. (William) Burkamp of Newark, Father Edward L. Keck of Canton, Kenneth J. (Connie) Keck of Dayton, Carol F. (Dave) Young of Baltimore, Ohio, Roberta A. (Randy) McDonald of Newark, Sally Keck of Hanover, Rita L. (Tony) Adams of Newark, Mark T. (Tracey) Keck of Heath, Chris (Maureen) Keck of Newark, Steve (Kenita) Keck of Newark, Mary (John) Marron of Newark, Sue (Luke) Nutter of Alexandria; numerous great nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia (Volz), in 1997; his second wife, Paula (Keck) in 2013; his brother, George Arensberg in 2012; a niece, Sue Ann Keck in 2001 and a nephew, Ben Keck in 2014.Friends and family may call on Friday, February 3, from 4-7 p.m. at The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, 59 North Fifth Street, Newark, where the Licking County Veterans Alliance will provide military honors at 7 p.m., Elks Services at 7:15 p.m. and a Vigil Service at 7:30 p.m.Memorial contributions may be made to The Newark Catholic Foundation, 1 Green Wave Drive, Newark, OH 43055, or the .Please visit www.hendersonvanatta.com to view a memorial and to leave a message of condolence for the family.
