Joan Louise “Doyle” Scarbrough, of Beaverton, Oregon, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and quiet strength. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Born on December 4, 1960, to Haley Doyle and Laura Nystedt, Joan graduated from Marshall High School in 1979 and began her career as a bank teller, where she thrived until her retirement in 1996.
Outside of her professional life, Joan was a passionate artist who found deep joy in painting and jewelry making. Her creative spirit was evident in every piece she made, and she generously donated proceeds from her artwork to charitable causes, including the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
Joan also had an unwavering heart for service to the Lord and was a pillar in her community at Prestige. She was elected President of residential council and served in several other leadership roles. Ever committed to creating a warm and connected environment, Joan started a church group, hosted Bible studies, and organized weekly gatherings to watch Christian programs with her neighbors. Her steady presence and selfless devotion helped turn Prestige into a place that felt like home—not just for herself, but for all those around her.
Joan was known not only for her thoughtfulness and grace, but also for her sweet and silly sense of humor, which brought smiles and lightness to those around her.
She is survived by her beloved partner, Robert Salyers, whose companionship and devotion brought her great joy and comfort.
She also leaves behind her brother, Haley Doyle; her nieces and nephew — Jennifer Mitchell, Amy Stalkup, and Andrew Doyle — along with their spouses Josh, Nick, and Rebecca; her Godson, David McCown; and many beloved cousins, including Kathy, Terry, Ronnie, Greggory, Emily, and Tonya.
Each of them carries forward the love, laughter, and light that Joan so freely gave.
She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her thoughtful presence, her laughter, and the beautiful life she quietly built for others to feel safe, seen, and loved.
