Joan E. Stuckart Obituary

Apr 28, 1956 - Dec 09, 2016

This obituary is administered by:
Joan E. Stuckart, age 60, of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, died peacefully at her home on December 9, 2016, surrounded by her loving family, following an inspiring and valiant battle with cancer. Joan is survived by her husband of 34 years, B. Marc Stuckart Jr.; her sons, Creighton (Emily) Stuckart, their children, Lilly, Heidi and Max Stuckart, and Christopher (Kimberly) Stuckart. She is also survived by her brothers, Ron Cifuni, Gary Mahoney, and James Mahoney; and her sisters, Diane (John) Fleming, Janie Mahoney, Lois Cifuni, and Joy Cifuni. Joan was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Mary Cifuni, and her brother, Richard Cifuni. Joan was born on April 28, 1956, in Quincy, Mass. Affable and warmhearted, Joan lived life with a contagious zest. Joan and Marc were married in Falmouth, Mass., January 29, 1983. Joan was a dedicated and loving wife to Marc, at whose jokes she never wavered in laughing, including those she heard time and time again over the years. Joan was also a devoted mother to her two sons of whom she was so proud, supportive and empowering. Most recently, to no ones surprise, Joan immersed herself in her role as a doting grandmother "Nona" to her grandchildren with whom she was blessed during her struggle with cancer. Nona will be deeply missed. Joan never met a stranger and cultivated a wide circle of friends, making new ones every day of her life. Joan was largely responsible for her many friends friendships with one another. Her friends were family to Joan, and all are suffering her loss. Joan grew up in the Boston area and attended Falmouth High School, followed by Mount Ida College in Newton, Mass. Prior to having children, Joan had a career in the financial services industry, working as a registered representative in Boston, Boca Raton, and Hilton Head. When Joan and Marc started a family, Joan chose to devote herself to the family, while at the same time putting her infinite creative talents to work. Never without several projects in process, Joan was a prolific painter of floor cloths, decorative tiles, oil and acrylic paintings, and countless other works and crafts. She started a line of painted ceramic stemware called "SexyStems". Joan was also a talented seamstress, making curtains, pillows, and clothes, including clothes for Lilly, Heidi and Max. Her home was always beautiful and welcoming. Her family and many friends are the beneficiaries of her talents and generosity. Joan was also an exceptional cook and hostess. Joan was a beautiful woman in every respect. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Island School Council for the Arts, (Joan Stuckart Memorial Fund), PO Box 23047, Hilton Head Island, SC, 29925 or Hospice Care of the Lowcountry, PO Box 3827, Bluffton, SC 29910. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Francis by the Sea Catholic Church at 4 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2016. A reception will follow at 8 Executive Park Rd., off of Pope Ave., across from Chow Daddys. The Island Funeral Home and Crematory, theislandfuneralhome.com.
