It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jeanne Rice on July 10, 2025, in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, United States. She was born on April 7, 1936, to Henry and Meryl, and was the beloved spouse of George, whom she married in 1956.

Jeanne was a loving mother to her three children, Jeanette, George Jr., and Laverne. She was also a cherished grandmother to her grandchildren; Amber, Koren, Jakob, Ashly, Avery, and Melanie.

Even through life’s challenges and strains, Jeanne loved her family deeply and equally. She wanted her grandchildren — Nicole, Justin, and George — to always know that her love for them was unwavering.

During difficult times, Jeanne’s children were also blessed with the presence of a stepmother, Marlyn Joan Rice, whom Jeanne was forever grateful for. Marlyn loved Jeanne’s children as her own, and Jeanne carried appreciation for that love throughout her life. Jeanne is now preceded in death by Marlyn, alongside other loved ones.

Throughout her life, Jeanne enjoyed hobbies such as cooking, baking, sewing, crocheting, and spending time with all of her kids and grandkids in any way she could. She also found great joy in sitting at the beach, taking in the beauty of the water and sky.

Jeanne will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace.
