We are gathered here today to celebrate the life of JaVan Payne, who passed away on January 24, 2025, in St. Louis, Missouri. JaVan was born on April 11, 1979, to proud parents Edwin Owens and Shelia Payne, and younger sister Tanesha McQueen.

JaVan was a beloved husband to Latisha Payne, whom he married in year 3. Together, they raised a beautiful family of nine children: Anthony, Antonio, Javan Jr, JarVas, Javie, Marcell, Mecca, Owen, and Jamie Ann. JaVan also had the joy of being a grandparent to one grandchild.

JaVan attended Grenville High School and graduated in 1999. He had a love for basketball and spent many hours perfecting his game on the court.

JaVan's vibrant personality and infectious laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He touched the lives of many and leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter.

JaVan's passing was the result of a tragic drowning accident. While we mourn his loss, we take comfort in knowing that he is at peace and watching over us from above.

Rest in peace, JaVan. You will always hold a special place in our hearts.
