James Lumar ObituaryJames Lumar (01/01/1950 - 07/03/2023)
James Lumar, a beloved resident of New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away on July 3, 2023. Born on January 1, 1950, James lived a remarkable life filled with laughter, mischief, and countless unforgettable moments.
James was a family man through and through, with four children who brought both joy and chaos into his life. Michelle, Marie, Khris, and James Jr. kept him on his toes, testing his patience and testing the limits of his sanity. Despite the challenges, James embraced fatherhood with open arms (and sometimes clenched teeth).
As a grandfather, James held the title of "Chief Mischief Maker" among his nine grandchildren. Whether it was sneaking cookies before dinner or telling wild stories that only he could make up, he always had a way of creating laughter and treasured memories.
In his early years, James attended Hahnville High School, where he perfected the art of dodging homework assignments. His skillful avoidance techniques were later put to good use in various adventures throughout his life, making him the undisputed master of procrastination.
After high school, James continued his education at LSU, earning a degree in creative excuses. Throughout his college years, he crafted elaborate stories to explain why assignments were incomplete or why he couldn't make it to class. Professors found his creativity both frustrating and impressive.
James eventually found his calling in law enforcement and joined the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office. As an officer, he specialized in tracking down missing donut trucks and dispelling the myth that cops don't have a sense of humor.
James will be remembered for his infectious laughter, his ability to find humor in any situation, and his unwavering dedication to his family. He will be greatly missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
