Jacque Horner Obituary

Apr 26, 1950 - Oct 29, 2021

This obituary is administered by:

A Mother is like a quilt...beautiful and unique.

Mary Jacquelyn "Jacque" Horner, 71, of Cottage Grove, Minnesota passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Friday October 29th, 2021 after a courageous two year battle with Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer.

Jacque will lovingly be remembered by her husband of 14 years, Jack, her children Ben (Katie), Val (Brian) and Jake, grandchildren (Jade, Faith, Ashton, Ryder, Easton, Nora and Henry), great-grandchild (Amyrah), brother Tony, sisters Angela (Joe), Carolyn (Dan), Kristie (Kelly) and many aunts, cousins, neices and nephews.

Born in Wilmington, North Carolina in 1950, Jacque was a beach girl at heart and loved to have her toes in the sand and to rock in a swing on the boardwalk! Living much of her adult life in and around the Raleigh area, Jacque worked for North Carolina Wildlife for over 20 years. She could tell you the name of any plant or flower just by looking at it, made sure her grandchildren received their Hunting & Fishing licenses at birth and made sure to always have Duke's Mayonnaise and Diet Pepsi (two "Made in the Carolinas" products) in the house once living in Minnesota.

An avid and extremely talented quilter, Jacque could be found every Friday morning in the Cottage Grove Library with her beloved quilting group "The Blazing Needles" creating beautiful works of quilting art for her friends and family. To be loved by Jacque was to be gifted a grogeous quilt- full of vibrant colors and fun, intricate patterns. Jacque never passed a quilting or sewing shop without stopping in "real quick" (ususally NOT "real quick") no matter where she was in the US, Hawaii no exception! Other passions included traveling, gardening and cheering on North Carolina State, the Minnesota Vikings and the Minnesota Wild.

Jacque never met a stranger and had an unbeliveable way of making you feel like you'd known her your whole life. She doted on her loved ones, was always up for a new adventure and lived each day in full, fiesty, red-headed fashion. The loudest laugh, the tightest hugs and the phone calls on every birthday-anniversary-holiday-or "just because" will be a few of the things about Jacque that we'll miss most.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network: www.pancan.org/donate

You can to the family or in memory of Jacque Horner.
