Gladys Johnson, a beloved member of the Highland Home community, passed away on October 9, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on March 8, 1953, Gladys was known for her warm smile and kind heart. She was a dedicated member of her church and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Gladys had a passion for gardening and could often be found tending to her beautiful flower beds. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched. She was the beloved daughter of the late Mr. Robert Lee Lowery and Ms. Annie B. Jones.

As the middle of four children, Gladys was a pillar of strength, wisdom, and love within her family. From an early age, she gave her life to Christ and committed herself wholeheartedly to the service of the Lord. Her unwavering faith became the cornerstone of her life and relationships, guiding her through every joy and challenge with grace and resilience.


Gladys graduated from Highland Home High School and went on to pursue higher education at Trenholm State Community College, where she earned a degree in Childcare Development. Her passion for nurturing young minds reflected her deep compassion and commitment to helping others grow. Throughout her life, she remained devoted to caring for children—a calling that brought purpose and fulfillment to her days.


A loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Gladys leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and dedication that will continue to inspire all who knew her. She is survived by her five devoted children: sons Gregory Johnson, Christopher Johnson, and Kalvin Lawyer; daughters Cassandra Johnson and Bonita Perry-Johnson. Her memory will also be cherished by her two sisters: Linda Reed and Daisy (John) Brazil; one brother: Robert Earl Johnson; as well as three beloved aunts: Ernestine Vickers, Gertrude Bibb, and Mrs. Tommie Mae.


Gladys was a proud grandmother to five grandchildren: Kywanna Johnson, Kiara Jones, Jermerical Davis, Christopher Johnson Jr., and Mikaylyn Scott. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends whose lives were touched by her kindness and enduring spirit.


She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; three aunts; two uncles; and one brother.


Gladys Mae Johnson will be remembered for her unwavering faith in God, her loving heart that embraced all who crossed her path, and the lasting impact she made in both her family and community. Her presence will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
