Georgina Aggrey Obituary

Dec 24, 1955 - Dec 27, 2020

This obituary is administered by:

"A friend to all, enemy to none."

Georgina Baaba Kwegyirba Aggrey was born in Accra, Ghana on December 24, 1955 to Mr. James Bedford Aggrey and Madam Georgina Essien. Her parents moved around a lot due to her father’s occupation as a teacher and head teacher. She had her basic education at Dunkwa-on-Offin, Ghana, and later attended St. Monica’s Girls Secondary School at Asante Mampong, Ghana. Thereafter, she attended Akrokerri Teacher Training College and upon graduation started life as a teacher at Kinbu Junior Secondary School in the heart of Accra. It was during the start of her professional teaching career that she met her husband, Francis Enu-Kwesi (of the Enu-Kwesi and Aboabo families, Axim, Ghana) in 1978. With the permission of the Essien Family of Axim, the Aggrey family of Apam, and through the able support of her adopted family, the Adade Family (of Akyim Moseaso) they married in December 1980. Her husband moved to the United States to pursue postgraduate studies at Michigan State University. She joined him in November 1981 and also subsequently obtained her bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University.

While pursuing education and working to survive, she bore two boys, Kwesi and Kojo who have grown to become responsible adults. Georgina, an eternally optimistic human being, brought life, light, joy and hope to everyone that she met. She was humble, honest, outgoing and friendly. She was supportive of all people that she encountered whether young or old. She was a friend to all, enemy to none, a mother to all and a counsellor to all. She bore no grudges; she was forgiving and loving as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, husband and friend. She was everything a man needed to be happy, and her husband/partner and children were happy with her. However, realities of life sent her husband to Ghana to pursue a career, leaving her here in the United States to fend for their two children. She worked hard and, through difficult times, was able to groom the boys into men. However, the long hours of work and struggles began to take a toll on her physically and emotionally, and together with her husband decided that she should retire and join him in Ghana. She settled on age 65 as her final year and she attained that on December 24, 2020. But as it is when God disposes, the earthly retirement did not “become” because the Almighty God called her to come and rest peacefully on December 27, 2020.
