Georgelyn "Jo" Sue EvansGeorgelyn "Jo" Sue Evans, age 77, passed away to be with the Lord on May 5, 2017 surrounded by her family. She was born on March 9, 1940 to parents Basil and Opal (Gill) Henckel. Jo was elected Homecoming Queen and graduated from Athens High School in 1958. She married her husband, James R. Evans, on July 6, 1963 and lived happily in matrimony for nearly 54 years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family more than anything. She was fortunate to be able to travel and made many happy memories vacationing and spending holidays with her loved ones. She was very outgoing and loved talking to people as she made friends wherever she went. She will be missed dearly and never forgotten. She is survived by her loving husband, James R. Evans; Daughter, Kimberly (Michael) Brown; Son, James D. (Denise) Evans; Grandchildren she adored: Mikey and Travis Brown, Hannah, Sarah and Caleb Evans; Siblings: Terry (Kevin) Henckel, Bonita (Cecil) Aurand, Gary (Ann) Henckel, and Christine Dietz and many nieces and nephews she held dear. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law.Upon family's request, there will be no public service.
