On October 29th, 2025, the world lost a truly remarkable soul with the passing of George Jones of Eglon, West Virginia. Born on March 18th, 1940, to Clayton and Gladys Jones, George leaves behind a legacy that will be remembered for generations to come.
In 1973, George married the love of his life, Mabel Jones, and together they raised two incredible children. George John Jones Jr. and Curtis John Jones brought endless joy to their parents, who were proud to see them grow into loving spouses and parents themselves.
After graduating from Hagerstown High School, George furthered his education at Maryland State University. He went on to work at the Hagerstown Federal Detention Center, where his dedication and hard work were truly appreciated. After a successful career, George retired in 2005.
Despite his busy schedule, George always found time to help in the Church Ministry organization, spreading love and compassion to all who crossed his path. He had a heart of gold and a willingness to serve others that was truly inspiring.
In his free time, George enjoyed volunteering and giving back to his community. His selfless acts of kindness touched the lives of many and his generosity knew no bounds.
George's passing was a result of a Massive Stroke, leaving his family and friends heartbroken. However, his spirit will live on forever in the memories of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
George Jones may no longer walk amongst us, but his legacy will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Rest in peace, dear George.
