Eva Parker EvansDelmar-Eva Parker Evans, 100, of Delmar, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Wicomico Nursing Home in Salisbury.She was born on June 8, 1916 in Delmar, a daughter of the late John and Hattie Penuel.Mrs. Evans began her career as a seamstress at Banks and Pusey Garment Company in Delmar. She later went to work in the shoe department at Hess Apparel in Salisbury. She was a longtime member of St. Stephen's United Methodist Church in Delmar, where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and was involved in the Elizabeth Circle and Women's Society of Christian Service. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, who loved to cook and take care of her family. She will be remembered by many for her delicious cookies and fudge. She is survived by her daughter, Wanda L. Porter of Salisbury; two grandsons, Eddie Porter (Amy) and Christopher Porter (Jill); great grandchildren, Ryane, Raegan, Rowen, Gatlin and Westin Porter; five step grandchildren; several step great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Pearl Penuel; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Harry Lee Parker and her second husband, John William Evans; a step-son, Kevin Evans; son-in-law, William Porter; brothers, Hugh, William, Amos and Howard Penuel; and sisters, Margaret Neal, Amy Phillips, Ruth Hastings, Irene Benson, Catherine Ward, and Lela Jones.A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove Street in Delmar. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. The Reverend Phyllis Walton will officiate. The interment will follow in St. Stephens Cemetery in Delmar.In memory of Mrs. Evans, contributions may be sent to St. Stephen's United Methodist Church, 101 E.
