Ernest Pitts Jr., 79, of Detroit Michigan, passed away, Thursday, September 05, 2019 at his home surrounded by close family and friends.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, September 11,2019 at Good Life Funeral Home & Cremation, 8408 E Colonial Dr, Detroit, MI 48221. The burial will follow soon after at Chapel Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 until 9:00 PM, Tuesday at the funeral home. 

Ernest was born August 12, 1940 in Detroit, to Ernest Sr. and Flora (Harris) Pitts. He graduated from Pershing High School in 1958 and from t Michigan State University in 1969 with a degree in Civil Engineering. On January 16, 1971, he married his former partner Artimesia Jackson in Detroit. Harry was employed as a civil engineer for Ford Motor Company for 41 years. He enjoyed working night and day in his office, and only retired a few years prior to his passing. He spent most of his weekends fishing out on the lake and water sailing. He also enjoyed reading old novels, and spending time with his daughter and grandchildren whenever he could.

Harry is survived by his daughter, Angelek Larkins and his wife Artimesia Pitts of Detroit, MI, four grandchildren, Stephanie, Stacee, Rodney and Anastasia, seven great grandchildren and his brothers Samuel Pitts of Orlando, FL and Paul Pitts, along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Liam and Anne in 2006.
