Diana Nelson, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on May 25, 2024, in Alexandria, Minnesota. She was born on February 4, 1969, in Fargo, North Dakota. Her parents: Leslie and Janet (McDonald) LaFontaine adopted her at age 4. Diana grew up on a dairy farm in Bagley, MN with four brothers and 1 sister. Diana married the love of her life, Calvin Nelson on August 15th, 1987 and together they moved to Alexandria, MN and raised four children: Kayla (Zachary) Dahlheimer, Nicole Nelson, Corey (Kayla) Nelson, and Nathan (Genevieve) Nelson.

Diana loved fiercely and her favorite pastime was spending time with her family; especially her six grandchildren. Sophia, Lydia, Leonardo, Beckett, Indiana and Hollis. She enjoyed camping, being on the lake, trips to Grand Marais and Walker, and she always loved sitting at a nice bonfire with her family. She also loved her dog Molly like she was her fifth child. She was an incredibly sweet and caring woman, always putting other's needs before her own.

On May 25, 2024, Diana lost her battle with brain cancer and passed at home peacefully, surrounded by her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was and is very loved.

She is survived by her mother, husband, children, grandchildren, sisters: Starla LaFontaine and Tammy (Allen) Larsen. Her brothers: Steven and William (Christine) LaFontaine, James Chandler, and Ronnie (Shay) Barta. Also a lot of nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, in-laws and many more loving family members.

She is preceded in death by her father Leslie, brothers Allen and Chris LaFontaine, and nephew Joshua LaFontaine.
