David 'JAY' HenryDavid Jay Henry passed away peacefully at home Tuesday morning June 30th surrounded by loving family. He was 60 years old and had fought a courageous battle with cancer. Jay was born on the 4th of July, 1954 in Toppenish Washington to his parents David and Lydia (Besel) Henry. He was the second born of four children. The family moved to Sumner Washington and then to Ellensburg Washington. It was here where he attended high school and met the love of his life Sharon Carney. They were married on September 23, 1972 in Las Vegas. Nevada. Jay had joined the Army and was stationed in El Paso Texas before being transferred to Mainz Germany where they spent 21 months before being honorably discharged. Upon returning from Germany the family spent time in Hesperia, California for a short time and returned to Ellensburg where they remained for the last thirty years. Jay's hobbies included water skiing in his younger years. He was also an avid golfer and master pool player and over the years competed in many tournaments.Jay lived large. He was one of a kind and unique. He was the life of the party, had an amazing and unique sense of humor and would give anyone the shirt off his back. He was a compassionate man who saw people equally. Jay was genuine, kind and touched many lives. Jay is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Sharon Henry of Ellensburg, his son Brandon (Katraya) of Ellensburg, his daughter Laura of Ellensburg, his brother Jack (Velma) of Ellensburg, his sister Beverly Kane (Kevin) of Yakima, and his sister Darlene Smith (Terry) of Brownstown, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents.A celebration of Jay's life will be held Saturday July 11th at the American Legion in Ellensburg from 1pm to 5 pm. In lieu of flowers please donate to the .
