Robert "Bob" S. Newman, 85, went to be with the lord. Bob passed away peacefully with his family by his side in his home of 41 years on July 21, 2009. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence & Mattie, brother Harry and great granddaughter Kylee Shines. Bob was born on April 3, 1924 to Clarence and Mattie Newman in Spokane, WA. When Bob's dad passed away he left school to stay on the family farm and help his mother. In 1948 Bob met his soul mate Betty Johnson. On October 22, 1949 they wed and later had 2 sons Dale and Dan. The family lived in Wapato where Bob farmed with his brother Harry. In 1954 Bob and his family moved to Ellensburg. Bob worked as a mechanic for a couple of local shops until he retired in 1987 for the county road department. Soon Bob got bored with retirement and started working for his good friend Darrel Eason for 15 years. Bob was a devoted member of the Ellensburg Posse for 38 years. Bob enjoyed square dancing, camping, fishing, but he LOVED hunting and being with his family. Betty his wife of 59 years survives him as well as two sons Dale & Shelia Newman, San Pablo, CA; Dan & Sue Newman, Medical Lake, WA; 5 grandchildren Gale & Dani Wilson, Moses Lake, WA; Trina Shines, Medical Lake, Stephanie & Damon Witherrite, Medical Lake, Brandy Kladnick, Kirkland, WA; Melissa Newman, San Pablo, CA; 11 great grandchildren, sister Maxine (Ernie) Ralph, Auburn, WA; sister in law Dalores Newman, Union Gap, WA; Betty's sister and brothers, many nephews, nieces, cousins and wonderful friends. Bob will be deeply loved and missed by all who knew him. A memorial Service will be held on Monday, July 27, 2009 at 2 pm at Calvary Baptist Church, 840 Cowboy Lane, Ellensburg, WA. Cremation handled by Steward & Williams Tribute Center & Crematory.
