Dale Vanderwerf, 73St. Cloud, MinnesotaMar. 6, 1944 ~ Sept. 25, 2017Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 29, 2017, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Dale Vanderwerf, age 73, of St. Cloud who passed away at his home on Monday, September 25, 2017. Reverend Thomas Knoblach will officiate. Burial will take place at Assumption Cemetery in St. Cloud. Family and friends may call after 10:00 a.m. on Friday at the church. Arrangements are with the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud. Dale was born on March 6, 1944 in New Ulm, Minnesota to John and Rosella (Anderson) Vanderwerf. When Dale was five, Rosella passed away and John was remarried to Agnes. Agnes and John raised Dale and his siblings together. He married Bernice Skudlarek on July 1, 1967 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Dale worked for Fingerhut for many years retiring as a supervisor.  He also assisted Bernice with daycare. Dale was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Dale enjoyed horse racing, football, basketball, trips to the casino, and yard work. He especially loved the time spent with his family. He is survived by his children, Scott (Linda) Vanderwerf of Shakopee, Brian (Angela) Vanderwerf of Minneapolis; brothers and sisters, Warren (Delores) of Redwood Falls, Doris Neudecker of Redwood Falls, David (Donna) Malden, MA, John (Cynthia) Fridley, Linda (Mark) Fernelius of Willmar; brother-in-law, Eugene (Bonnie) Skudlarek of Nisswa; and many nieces and nephews. Dale was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bernice in April of 2017; brother, James (Lucille) Vanderwerf; brother-in-law, Richard Neudecker. A Special Thank You to the Staff and volunteers of Meals on Wheels.
