Carla Hood, beloved mother, daughter, and friend, passed away on June 4th, 2023, at the age of 43. Carla was born on October 16th, 1979, in Knoxville, Tennessee, to parents Bill Shaefer and Peggy Hood.

Carla was a loving and devoted mother to her son Avery Haykal, who she cherished more than anything in the world. She was also a caring daughter and friend who always went above and beyond to support and comfort those she loved.

Carla graduated from Soddy Daisy High School in 1998, where she made many lifelong friends and was known for her infectious smile and kind heart. After graduation, she pursued her passion for cooking and worked in several kitchens throughout her lifetime.

Carla was married in 1999, and though her marriage ended in divorce, she always remained committed to being a devoted mother to her son. Avery was the light of her life, and she loved nothing more than spending time with him, watching him play sports, and seeing him grow into the young man he is today.

Tragically, Carla passed away from an accidental overdose, leaving behind her loved ones who will miss her dearly. Her warm personality, generous spirit, and infectious laughter will be missed by all who knew her.

Carla is survived by her son Avery Haykal, her parents Bill Shaefer and Peggy Hood, and numerous family members and friends who loved her deeply. Her memory will live on through the love and memories she created with those around her. Rest in peace, Carla.
