Cameron Prescott FriendONTARIO: Cameron Prescott Friend, 14, of Ontario passed away Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Akron Children's Hospital from complications due to a bone marrow transplant. Cameron was born on May 23, 2002 in Mansfield.Cameron was a beloved young man with the heart of 1000 lions. He was strong, intelligent, the life of the party and a sweet, mischievous pot stirrer with his friends and family. He will be forever remembered for his spirited life. Cameron was stoic, a fighter, a Warrior in all aspects of his life. Everything was a competition to Cameron and he wanted to win, no matter if it was playing sports or in his battle with cancer. At the end of his journey here on earth, Cameron was the ultimate winner, kicking cancer's butt, defeating this dreaded disease and arriving in heaven with "the Dub", cancer free. Cameron was athletic and enjoyed sports, especially basketball. He played basketball, soccer, tennis and golf and attended Ontario High School where he was a freshmen. Cameron was a friend to everyone, people were drawn to his insatiable personality and infectious laugh, often finding himself to be the center of attention, although ultimately he did not crave or need the spotlight. Cameron could fit in and talk with anyone. He was ambitious and had a drive and initiative to accomplish his life's missions, such as meeting his favorite basketball player Kevin Durant and getting his autograph. He also attended Kyrie Irving's basketball camp and was chosen out of over 400 kids to spotlight his 3-point shooting abilities in front of Kyrie and the entire camp. Cameron had aspirations of becoming a commercial real estate agent and selling million dollar homes. Cameron rooted for the Cavaliers, Browns, Indians and OSU sports. He adored his constant companions, his cats, Lilo, Stitch, Emmy, and Lucy, as they adored him.A special thank you to the entire Ontario Community, Ontario Schools, Akron Children's PICU and Oncology departments. The massive outpouring of love and concern has been amazing and Cameron's family sincerely appreciates all of the passionate, unwavering love, prayers and support.
