On November 7, 1953, the two were married in Crockett at the pastor's home and spent a very blessed 63 years together. Shortly after their marriage, David was drafted into the Army and the two ended up in Alaska. After proudly serving his country for two years, they returned to Texas. They then started their family and he loved his children very much. He spent countless hours traveling to see their children and eventually, grandchildren. David was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to be in the woods or at their cabin on Sam Rayburn. Mr. Jeffus was very devoted to his faith and to Calvary Baptist Church in Nacogdoches, serving for many years as Deacon. His love for Jesus Christ poured out to anyone who knew him and he never passed up a chance to speak about the Lord. He was raised as a preacher's son and as a result, he was well versed in the Bible.
