We are gathered here today to celebrate the life of Bertta Green-Washington, who passed away on September 1, 2025, in Newport, West Virginia. Born on September 23, 1956, to Benjamin and Henrietta Green, Bertta lived a vibrant and fulfilling life surrounded by her loved ones.

In 1973, Bertta graduated from Burk High School before furthering her education at Rice College. She dedicated her career to teaching and retired in 2020, leaving a lasting impact on her students and colleagues.

Bertta married the love of her life, Jerome Washington, in year 35, and together they raised four wonderful children: Donald, Nathaniel, Gregg, and Arnold. Bertta adored her 10 grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with them.

When Bertta wasn't busy with her family or work, she enjoyed sewing and attending family functions. Her warm smile and kind heart will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Though we mourn her passing, we take comfort in knowing that Bertta is now at peace, reunited with her beloved parents and watching over her cherished family from above.
