Benjamin Franklin Malinowski (Ben) passed away peacefully on August 23, 2011 after battling a long illness. A resident of Lake City, Florida, he was 82 years old. Ben was born on September 5, 1928 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey to the late Mary and Frank Malinowski of Perth Amboy, New Jersey. Ben entered the military in 1946 becoming a Chief Warrant Officer in 1954. During his 20 years of service in the Army he served in Japan, Italy, Germany, and Korea. In 1969 he returned to Augusta, Georgia where he received the Legion of Merit. He also received one Commendation Medal from the Department of the Army First Oak Leaf Cluster, and later he received the Department of the Army Commendation Medal Second Oak Leaf Cluster. Ben was chosen to be on the Select Committee on Assassinations for President John F. Kennedy, U.S. House of Representatives, due to his expertise in polygraph. He also assisted in the Assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King and the Herman Talmadge Ethics Investigation. He was interviewed on the ABC 20/20 Show on the slaying of Viola Luizzo in Alabama. He also assisted the Alabama Attorney General on the 16th Street Church Bombing. He worked on the My Lai Massacre Investigation for the U.S. Government. He was a Charter Member of the American Polygraph Association, twice President of the Georgia Polygraph Association and he was appointed by then Governor Jimmy Carter to the Georgia Polygraph Licensing Board. He later moved to Savannah, Georgia where he started his own polygraph service, Malinowski Polygraph in 1975. Ben had a strong love of the water and went fishing and crabbing as much as he could, which led him to semi-retirement in Steinhatc hee, Florida, where he became a licensed fishing guide. Ben is preceded in death by his first wife Beverly Brown Malinowski; Sister Carol and Mike Nowicki; son-in-law Kevin Ansley. He is survived by his loving wife, Arlene Malinowski, daughters Anita Tiedt and her husband Scott of Atlanta, Georgia; Marcia Ansley of Imperial, California; son Michael Malinowski and his wife Karen of Savannah, Georgia; grandchildren Amber Ansley Haslam and her husband Ryan of Savannah, Georgia; Kyle Benjamin Ansley of Atlanta, Georgia; Zachary Thomas Ansley student at Georgia Southern University; Beverly Jeannette Tiedt of Atlanta, Georgia; Chad Tiedt and his wife Monica of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; Kyle Tiedt of Atlanta, Georgia; Nicole Makayla Malinowski of Savannah, Georgia and great grandson Nathan Brian Haslam of Savannah, Georgia. Ben's siblings include Lillian and Leon Dybiec of Homosassa, Florida; Stanley Malinowski of North Brunswick, NJ; MaryAnn and Frank Grabowski of Sayreville, New Jersey; Suzanne and Earl Smith of South Amboy, New Jersey. He is also survived by 17 nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock Thursday evening at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.The funeral service will be held at 10 o'clock Friday afternoon at the graveside, Catholic Cemetery, conducted by The Reverend Patrick S. O'Brien.
