Anna Mitchel was born July 24, 1965, to Alice Woodley and Hal Mitchell in Chicago, IL. She was raised in Milwaukee, WI by her grandmother Hattie Carter. She was the oldest and only girl of 3 siblings. Anna had an old soul. You could tell through her taste in music and movies. She loved watching old Western movies and films in Black and While. Anna loved listening to music, her taste was unique from the Blues to the Dusties to Hip Hop. If she wasn’t jamming you could find Anna designing, her own fashion. She could whip an outfit together in no time, stitching and sewing by hand adding lots of dazzles and glam. Anna never had much but she made much of what she had. She was filled with a good heart and a loving soul. Always had a smile on her face and loved being around her family and friends. One thing she loved more than anything in this world was her children. She would do anything for them.

Her open spirit took her through various phases of faith. While being raised with her grandmother, she attended the Baptist Church of Christ. Later in her adult life she became active in the Moorish Science temple of America where she was introduced to Allah.

Anna received her formal education in the Milwaukee Public School system where she graduated from Vincent High School in 1983. She held several different positions in the Food and Beverage industry. Anna loved to travel and didn’t mind her means of transportation. She would always find a way to get there no matter what. After decades in the cold city, Anna moved to warmer weather and settled in Jacksonville, FL where she lived the rest of her years.

God called upon Anna on October, 11th 2023 while peacefully surrounded by her children and loved ones. She leaves to cherish her memories 3 sons Akeim, Ramses and Kalif, 1 daughter Nigeria, 1 granddaughter, 2 brothers Deon and Darrius (aka Pookie), 2 Aunts she cherished as sisters Shebaja and Diane, dear friend Woot, a host of close cousins and several close friends.

 Preceding Anna in death are her mother Alice, Grandmother Hattie, father Hal, uncle Ibn Hassan, special cousins Ammon-ra and Tonio.
