Anjelica "Jeli P." Lewis was born on December 22, 1986 in Los Angeles, California to Peggy Lewis and JBS. She was the only child of Peggy's, and although she did not have biological siblings, she had no shortage of family she considered her brothers and sisters. Jeli was a natural born creator and from an early age she began expressing her creative talents in various fashions. From recording her own talk show called "Anjelica's Waste of Time Show" at age 8 (long before YouTube channels), to making stop-motion videos with her toys and action figures alongside her cousin-brother Nic, her imagination knew no bounds. Jeli was also an athlete and avid animal lover. Although her mother would seldom allow it, Jeli would attempt to rescue various pets to care for as her own. She played many sports including soccer and baseball; but her favorite sport of them all was basketball. She played for various teams throughout her adolescence including the varsity basketball team at St. Bernard's High School.
After graduating high school, Jeli attended Cal State Channel Islands. This is where she would discover new passions and creative outlets as a barber and photographer. Although she majored in Liberal Arts, her barber business and photography took precedence over the classes she was taking. Through the years at school she would go on to make countless life long friends and connections while honing her skills as the campus barber. After receiving her Bachelor's in 2009, she continued to follow her passions and went on to become a licensed barber. In the years to follow, Jeli continued to hone her skills as a photographer/videographer, and using those skills to capture and promote her work as a barber.
Throughout Jeli's entire life, music was always playing in the background. Her twin-cousin, Nic's, passion for creating music as an artist and producer would eventually rub off on her; so, she began to experiment as a DJ. The more she tapped into this aspect of herself, she discovered a new talent for being a DJ and went on to be a neighborhood favorite in her home of Leimert Park. Jeli had to house all these various talents and skills under on roof, and in 2018 started her own company, aptly named KR38, LLC (duh). KR38 offered all of her talents in one easy to access location. You could book a Barber, a DJ, a Photographer/Videographer, a Voice Actor, or your own studio session; all in her own one-stop shop.
Jeli was a true creative from her debut in 1986 until June 26th, 2023. Although she lost her battle with cancer, in her 36 years in this life, she showed us that the only limitations we have are the ones we set for ourselves. In her own words. "I am a child of the light, command free of the darkness to be." As much as we will deeply miss you, you are now free.
