Albert Arvid Astala Jr., age 64, passed away June 28, 2013 at his home in Oscoda. He was born on Dec. 27, 1948 in Chicago, Ill. to the late Albert Sr. and Jane Astala. Albert enjoyed reading, golfing, playing bingo, attending auctions, riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and most importantly spending time with his family and friends. For the last two years, Albert was a caregiver to his brother, Todd Astala. Al was a veteran of the Vietnam War, a member of the American Legion Post 274 and a life member of the VFW. Albert is survived by his daughter, Alisa A. Astala, son, Albert A. III (Karla) Astala, and mother of Alisa and Albert III, Tonya Astala, all of Pennsylvania; brothers, Art A. (Pam) Astala, Ace A. (Linda) Astala, and Todd A. Astala; and sisters, Arleen A. Astala, Adel A. Astala; and Viola A. Astala. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews; and a grandson on the way, Albert A. Astala IV. A memorial service was held at the American Legion in Oscoda on July 5 with Pastor Timothy Azzam presiding and a presentation by the American Legion Color Guard.
