William C. "Woody" Wood, Sr.Poughkeepsie, NY - William C. "Woody" Wood, Sr., 89 of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at the Grand at River Valley in Poughkeepsie, NY. Woody was born on November 22, 1927 to the late Fellmore and Marvelette Potter Wood, Sr. He married Westelle Exum in 1949 in Poughkeepsie, NY.Woody proudly served our country with the US Army during World War II from April, 1946 to September, 1947. He was employed as a Foreman with the City of Poughkeepsie for many years until his retirement in 1986. Woody was a member of the Exempt Fireman's Association. In addition to his wife Westelle Exum of Troy, NY, Woody is survived by his longtime companion Alice H. Wallace of Poughkeepsie, NY, sons William C. (Kim) Wood, Jr. of Troy, NY, Keith L. (Sandy) Wood, Sr. of Poughkeepsie, NY, daughters Victoria A. Wood of Zebulon, NC, April Randolph, Troy, NC, Glynis D. Wood of Portsmouth, VA, Tina L. (Anthony) Thomas of Poughkeepsie, NY, Tanya L. (Louis) Wood-Hooper of Raleigh, NC, step-children Julia (Clevland) Dancey of Enfield, NC, Jesse Randolph of Rhinebeck, NY, Jimmy Randolph of Hyde Park, NY, Paul W. North of Staatsburg, NY, Vrelin G. (Sharyn) North of LaGrange, NY, Margaret M. Holmes of Poughkeepsie, NY, sister Bernice W. Cherry of Poughkeepsie, NY, 33 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren. Woody is predeceased by longtime companion Helen Jackson Wood, brother Fellmore Wood, Jr, sister Phyllis M. Innis, sons Brent S. Randolph and Darryl D. Wood, step daughter Alfreda Jackson, step son Arthur Jackson, grandson Emmanuel T. Hooper and great granddaughter Kayla S. Sloan.Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 17, 2017 at the William G. Miller & Son Funeral Home, Inc. 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, New York 12603 from 11:00am to 12:00pm with a Funeral Service following at 12:00pm at the Funeral Home.
