Wanda Faith McCauley Holtkamp, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, went to be with the Lord on December 14, 2016.
Wanda was born on October 4, 1935 in Fort Bend County Texas to Ralph Charles (R.C.) McCauley Sr and Mary Louise Albrecht McCauley. Wanda lived with her parents (RC and Mary) and grandparents (RB and Sally) and her brother Ralph on the family farm on the banks of the San Bernard River in the Needville, Texas farming community area. Wanda talked of growing up with her extended family. She grew up picking cotton, farming, ranching, sewing, quilting and swimming in the river. Running water meant "running to go pump some water", no electricity, no indoor plumbing and bathing in a washtub on the back porch, or bathing in the river in the summer, and she loved it. Wanda graduated from Needville High School in 1953, where she played volleyball and was a drum major in the marching band. Wanda married her husband, Ellwood Walter (Buck) Holtkamp on May 7, 1955 in Hope Lutheran Church in Beasley, Texas. Wanda was baptized and confirmed at the Hope Lutheran Church. Buck and Wanda lived in Houston, Victoria, Trinity and moved to Conroe, Texas in 1970. Wanda loved children and worked as a teacher's aide at Armstrong Elementary School in Conroe, Texas for 30 years.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents: R.C. and Mary McCauley and Grandparents Ralph Benjamin (RB) McCauley and wife Sally McCauley and Mr. and Mrs. L.D. Albrecht.
Wanda is survived by her husband of 61 years, Ellwood Walter (Buck) Holtkamp; Children, Roger Dean Holtkamp and wife Leslie Holtkamp, Kathryn Holtkamp Stanbery and husband Dan Stanbery; Brother, Ralph Charles McCauley II and wife Delores McCauley, Grandchildren, Caleb Wren Spence and fiancé Amanda Smarrito, Jacquelyn Holtkamp Janca and husband Taylor Janca, Dean Holtkamp and Lauren Holtkamp; Great Grandchildren, Jenner Janca, Cooper Janca and Brianna Tolley, sister-in-law Dorothy Tiemann; special friend Ida Kelly and numerous other close cousins, family members and friends.
