Vera McDonald, 73, returned to her heavenly home on November 27th, 2019 after a valiant battle with a long illness. Her devotion to his family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.
Vera was born to Clifford and Grace Jackson, a Methodist pastor and a homemaker respectively, in Denver, CO on April 29, 1946. She was immersed in the Christian community that would be his lifelong support from an early age. She graduated from Sawyer Business College with an Accounting Degree in the late 70’s.
Vera was blessed with a large and loving family. She married her best friend and lifelong partner, Jesse McDonald, on December 23, 1963 in Raton, New Mexico. Vera helped raise her five children with patience, discipline and humility. She taught them to read, write and solve complex equations, and often took them on long family trips. From the very beginning, she dedicated her children to God and encouraged them to explore the beauty of the gospels.
Vera was an educator at heart. She was kind and soft-spoken, and always had time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small. She is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her creator.
Vera is survived by her husband, Jesse; her daughters Lenora Gueste and Jessica McDonald, son Jesse McDonald Jr; her 20 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her sister, Brenda Brown;her brother, Tommy Jackson.
