Theodore V. StarzykPOUGHKEEPSIE - Theodore V. Starzyk, 90 a lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at the Pines in Poughkeepsie, NY. Ted was born on September 1, 1926 in Poughkeepsie, NY to the late Joseph and Anna Labudzinska Starzyk. He married Genevieve J. Smolenski on April 25, 1959 at St. Adalbert's, Bronx, NY who survives at home.Ted proudly served in the United States Army during World War II from 1945-1946. He was subsequently employed at Alpha Laval as a Toolmaker for 44 years until his retirement. Ted was a member of the PACC #369, K of C, American Legion 1302, Holy Trinity Church, managed Little League Teams and from the 1940's until the 1960's he played in the Industrial Fast Pitch Soft Ball League and the Downtown Fast Pitch Softball League where he pitched a perfect game. He is a member of Dutchess County Softball Hall of Fame and an avid gardener.In addition to his wife, Ted is survived by his sons Theodore J. (Rhoda) Starzyk and Gregory (Patti) Starzyk both of Stanfordville, NY, Richard A. (Noel) Starzyk of Milan, NY, daughter Annette (Tony) Rembisz of Hyde Park, NY, grandchildren Matthew, Richard Pierce, Gregory Joseph, Ashley, Isabella, Kathryn, Griffin, Danielle, great granddaughter Jolie, sister Eleanor(Granville) Rambo of Poughkeepsie, NY as well as several nieces and nephews. Sister-in-Laws include: Rose Krukiel and Barbara Starzyk. He was predeceased by brothers Henry, Edward, Julian and a sister: Helen.Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2017, 4-8 PM at the William G. Miller & Son Funeral Home, Inc. 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at 10AM at Holy Trinity Church, 775 Main Street, Poughkeepsie, NY. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Family Plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Evergreen Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY.
