Theodore Parker, Jr. CHARLESTON - Mr. Theodore Parker, Jr., of Charleston, S.C., died suddenly on Thursday, November 17, 2016. He was 70 years old. He was born on September 21, 1946. He was one of seven children born to Elnora (Ackerman) and Theodore Parker, Sr. of Johns Island, SC (Red Top). He attended Wallace Consolidated School and College. He, along with his brother Wesley served our country during the Vietnam War. He, a proud Marine, was stationed in DaNang and was honorably discharged in March 1968. He was one of the first African Americans in the state of South Carolina to work at Western Electric in the 1960's. He remained with Western Electric and its successors until he retired from Lucent Technologies. He married Naquita Richardson on July 17, 1966 and together they had three children: Theodore, Benden and Renea (deceased). They were divorced and he married Audreyole McCants on January 01, 1983 and together they had two children, Michael and Ashley. Theodore was involved in many social and charitable organizations. As a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Sunsetter Elks Lodge, he frequently volunteered time at the Veterans Hospital and participated in events benefitting children. A funeral service celebrating of his life will take place on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 12:00 Noon in Lovely Hills Baptist Church, 670 Bear Swamp Road, Johns Island, SC 29455. Mr. Parker can be viewed at the church the morning of the services beginning at 11:00 a.m. He will be laid to rest in St. Johns Baptist Missionary Church Cemetery, Johns Island, SC with Military Honors.
