Steven Mark Murray1948-2015Steven Mark Murray, age 67, of Houston, Texas, died tragically in a private plane accident on Sunday, August 30, 2015, in Kewanee, IL. Steve was born on April 5, 1948 in Urbana IL to Haydn and Juanita Murray. Steve married Nancy Goshorn on August 29, 1970 and they lived in Santa Monica CA, Dallas TX, Lafayette LA, & Houston TX.Steve attended The Pingry School in New Jersey, Duke University (BS) and the University of Southern California (MS in Geology and PhD in Geochemistry). He worked as a geologist his entire career, first in uranium and then in oil and gas. Steve's motto was 'more is better' and he had many hobbies: hunting, fishing, surfing, flying, motorcycling, four-wheeling, fence-building, breeding tropical fish, dog-training, poker. Steve shared his passions, his laughter, and his smiles with a huge cadre of friends, traveling the world, often including Nancy. Steve is survived by loving wife Nancy and daughter Samantha, daughter-in-law Gretchen and adored grandsons Haydn and Zane. Survivors include his mother Juanita Murray of Bloomington IN, sisters Marilyn (Andy) and Lisa (Peter) and many cousins and nephews. His son Mark died with him. He was preceded in death by his father, Haydn Murray. The memorial service will be held at four o'clock in the afternoon on Friday, September 18, at St. Anne Catholic Church, 2140 Westheimer Rd. in Houston.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made at any Wells Fargo Bank to the Haydn and Zane Murray Education Donation Fund #4453.
