March 4, 1930-Sept. 25, 2016Stanley Robin was born on March 4, 1930, in Rockville Center, New York. He was the youngest of Anna and Benjamin Robin's three children. The family lived in Valley Stream, New York, on Long Island where Stan graduated from Central High School in 1948. After High School Stan worked several jobs in retail and also spent two years in the U.S. Army.In 1954 while walking on the beach in Florida, Stan laid eyes on a beautiful young woman named Pearl who was from Rego Park, New York. Stan and Pearl were married on March 12, 1955. Their first two sons, Louis and Harold were born in 1956 and 1957. Third son, Mark was born in 1961. The family moved to Hewlett, New York, in 1963. Youngest son, Benjamin joined the family in 1966. Together, Pearl and Stan opened a Mom and Pop luncheonette and candy store right around the corner from their home. It was called Stan's Lunch. Located close to the local elementary school, Stan's Lunch was a favorite spot with kids, families, teachers and many members of the community. Everyone knew Stan and everyone loved Pearl's egg creams. In addition to running the business with Pearl, and raising their four sons, Stan worked for twenty years as a cashier at Yonkers Raceway. Stan loved horseracing and baseball. He was a life-long Mets fan. In 1980, Stan and Pearl removed the lunch counter and converted the shop into a card, gift and stationery store. It became P and S Stationery.In 1987, Pearl and Stan purchased a second home in upstate, New York. They began spending as much time as they could at the house on Happy Avenue. It was a gathering place for their children, grandchildren and extended family and friends. Stan was devoted to Pearl and suffered a great loss when Pearl lost her battle with breast cancer in 1999. Always a ladies man and loved and doted on by the women in his life including his beloved mother, Anna and sister, Joan, Stan was fortunate to find a companion in family friend, Helena Skwiersky. They enjoyed time upstate and with one another's family. They also spent several winters in Naples, Florida, where they made many good friends. In 2010, this lifelong New Yorker moved to Big Sky, Montana. He lived in his own place for over three years right around the corner from Mark and Jackie's grocery and deli. He made many friends in Big Sky and was able to deepen his relationships with his three grandsons. He went fishing with Mark, attended sporting events, music concerts, graduations and many of the local cultural events including the weekly summer concerts that were within walking distance of his home. Stan loved all kinds of music.Over the six and a half years Stan lived in Montana, he experienced a decline in health due to Parkinson's Disease. He was extremely fortunate to have a caregiver named Patty Dickerson who began working with him in 2011. Patty was a passionate and doting caregiver and a dear friend who made sure he ate good food, drank lots of water, exercised, got fresh air and got out for fun activities whenever possible. Stan passed away peacefully on Sept. 25th in his assisted living apartment in Bozeman with Patty holding his hand.Stan was the beloved husband of the late Pearl. Devoted father of Louis and Ruth, Harold and Cyndy, Mark and Jacqueline, Benjamin and Stacy. Cherished grandfather of Joshua and Emma, Matthew and Alyssa, Andrew, Micah and Howard and Clayton, Shelby and Jacob. Stan was the adored son of the late Anna Roogow and the late Benjamin Robin. Loving brother of the late Joan and the late Donald Kellermann and the late Edwin Robin. Loving brother-in-law of Sylvia and the late Leon Cooper, Donald and the late Rose Kreiswirth and Susan Beckerman and the late Howard Ballenzweig. He is also survived by many adoring nieces and nephews.Stan was remembered by his family and friends at a service at Star of David Memorial Chapel and interred at Mount Ararat Cemetery in New York alongside Pearl on Sept. 29th.
