Sonia Gayle PlaugherSweetwater, TNSonia Gayle Plaugher, age 70, of Sweetwater, passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2016, at UT Medical Center, Knoxville. Mrs. Plaugher was born on November 7, 1946 in Paintsville, KY. Gayle was the type of woman who never gave upon anything in her life. She was a very strong loving and determined woman. She left this earth in the same manor fighting the good fight!! With Peace, acceptance and happiness in her eyes she decided to let go and be with our Heavenly Father with her family by her side. Gayle determination at having a career once her children were in school landed her into her dream job as a register nurse. She began her career at Memorial Hospital in Lima, Ohio and ended her career at Fort Sanders Hospital in Knoxville, TN., when she moved her family to the beautiful Smokies in Sevierville, TN. All her hard work paid off when she got her last position as a RN on the Oncology floor at Fort Sanders. Her large and beautiful heart and soul called her to help others in need. When she was only 16 years old she met the love of her life: Carl Plaugher and married him and had 3 children, they were married for 54 years when she passed. Her entire family was her world and to her family she was their world. She will forever be missed until we all meet again in heaven. Preceded in death by her parents, Van and Josia Mollett; brother, Otis Sherwood Mollett; and great-granddaughter, Cicily Helena Plaugher. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Carl J. Plaugher; daughters, Lisa Jo Marie Plaugher, Sonia Michelle Cooper; son and daughter, Carl Evan and April Plaugher; grandchildren, Cassandra Gayle and Kevin Johnson, Sabrina Ann Parton, Chris and Chassity Plaugher, Todd Jacob Steinke, Cody Plaugher, Damon and Devon Loveday, Chance and Abigayle Plaugher; great-grandchildren, Brantley, Lyric, Timber, Aden, Teagon and Paisley.The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 13, 2016, at the Sweetwater 1st Assembly of God Church from 1:00 P.M until 2:00 P.M. with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor: Andrew Templeton officiating. Interment to follow in the Union McMinn Baptist Church Cemetery. The family would like to especially thank the amazing staff on the cardiovascular ICU floor of UT Hospital for the wonderful and loving care they showed Sonia it meant the world to the family.
