S. Elizabeth Deramo "Aunt Betty"AGE: 85 • New CastleS. Elizabeth Deramo (Albanese), "Aunt Betty", 85, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2017, in Christiana Hospital, surrounded by family. Betty was born on November 10, 1931 to Nicholas and Elizabeth Albanese (Gallo). She grew up in Wilmington, Delaware. Betty graduated from PS Dupont High School and went on to become a licensed beautician coloring specialist and eventually became the manager of several Beauty Shops. In 1978 Betty, her husband Frank and her son Frank started Frank Deramo & Son Construction Co., where she worked until 2011. Betty was very active in Holy Spirit Church, serving on the Sodality, being the head cheerleading coach for Holy Spirit School, organizing trips to the casinos and catering events as she was an excellent cook. She also was heavily involved as a Youth Advisor with the CYO (Catholic Youth Organization) and as a result of her volunteering she received numerous awards and plaques for her dedication to the youth and to the parish. Betty loved cooking, entertaining, traveling and especially loved going to Delaware Park and playing the slot machines there. She was especially proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Betty was predeceased by her husband, Frank in 2012 at which time they had been happily married for 59 years; her brothers, William and John Albanese; her sister, Marge Quashne; and grandson, Andrew Durr. She is survived by her son, Frank (Francis N.) and his wife Debbie; daughter, Lynn (Deramo-Durr) and her husband, James Durr; grandchildren: Natalie and husband Jimmy Franks; Andrea and Nicholas (Nick) Deramo; Amber and Alexis Durr; 4 great-children: Eddie, Landon, Leo and Nicholas, Jr.; and her sisters-in-law, Vincetta DeStefano and Dolores Albanese; and numerous nieces and nephews.The family will be greeting friends and relatives during the visitation which will be held at Holy Spirit Church, 12 Winder Road, New Castle from 6:00 - 9:00 pm on Tuesday, May 2, 2017. A funeral Mass will be held at Holy Spirit Church 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 3, 2017. Burial will follow at Gracelawn Cemetery.
