Robert E. Hornsby, Sr. October 31, 1932 - January 28, 2017 Garden City Robert E. Hornsby, Sr., 84, of Garden City, died in January 28, 2017. Bob was born on October 31, 1932 in Columbia, SC, the son of the late John W. and Eloise (Best) Hornsby. He retired from Southern Bell in Columbia, SC. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Eleanor Fox Hornsby; his son, Robert E. Hornsby, Jr. and his wife Shannon; his daughter, Lisa Lowder and her husband, Jerry; his son, Joseph Griggs and friend, Alexa; his grandchildren, Bobby and Dean Cathcart and Emily Moore; as well as his great-grandchildren, Lillith and Justin. He also leaves his two brothers, Tom Hornsby and Richard Hornsby and his wife Marilyn of Lexington, SC; and four nephews. Preceding Bob in death is his brother, John W. Hornsby and his sister-in-law, Evelyn. A Memorial Service will be held at Burroughs Funeral Home (3558 Old Kings Highway, Murrells Inlet) on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 3:00PM. The family will greet friends from 2:00 PM, until the time of service. Inurnment will follow at St. Michael Catholic Church Columbarium, where Military Honors will be accorded.
