Richard D. Miller 1941 - 2016COLD BROOK - Richard D. Miller, 75, of Norway Street, died unexpectedly on October 26, 2016, at a place he loved, Miller Camp II.Dick was born on June 26, 1941, in Herkimer, the only child of the late Earl and Margaret (Santmier) Miller. He graduated from West Canada Valley Central School and entered the U. S.
Army in 1964. Richard was stationed in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1966, at the rank of SP4. He was united in marriage with the former Carolyn Kelley on October 8, 1966, at the Newport United Methodist Church. Richard worked for Eastern Rock (Hanson), for 35 years, and for the Town of Newport Highway Department for over 40 years. He was a member of Adirondack Post #1118 American Legion.Survivors include his wife, of 50 years, Carolyn; one son, Richard Craig Miller and his wife, Melissa, of Norway; one daughter, Brianne Lennea Swanson and her companion, Peter Leone, of Middleville; and his uncle and aunt, Walter and Norma Jean (Santmier) Miner, of Plattsburgh. Dick's greatest pleasure was his grandchildren, Alison Miller, of Gloversville, and Stanley and Madeline Swanson and Brayden Leone, all of Middleville. He also leaves four great-grandchildren, Bella, Chad, Hunter and Cassidy; a special nephew, Jared Flansburg; and longtime family friends, Jim and JoAnn Smith, for many years of friendship, fun and laughter. A Celebration of Life will be held at Adirondack Post #1118 American Legion, in Cold Brook, on Saturday, November 5th, starting at 4:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials to the Donald E.
