FICK, Jr., Paul MartinPaul Martin Fick, Jr., age 82, passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2016, in Austin, Texas, after an illness. His wife of sixty-three years, Lillie Pearl Fick, and his children, Karen A. Carter, Ted W. Fick and Steve Fick and close friend Ozie Farr were with Paul as he passed peacefully. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Paul M. Fick, Sr. and Alma E. Fick, and by his sons, Bobby Neal and Melvin Roy. Paul is also survived by five grandchildren (Lauren Johnson, Adam Burgess, Bretne Alioso, Hannah Averitt, and Dallas Fick), and four great-grandsons. Paul loved the outdoors, having been born on a farm on April 10, 1934. He loved fishing and hunting, and taught his sons those skills well. Paul was very skilled at a number of things involving working with his hands. He and his parents moved to Austin when Paul was 10 years old. Paul had a very strong work ethic. He was employed by the state of Texas at the time of his retirement, and he worked in landscaping and a variety of other jobs, because he was not content unless he was busy with something. He would help a friend in need whenever he could. He never failed to provide for his family, and was loved and respected by his friends and family. Paul enjoyed country music, and he had a great sense of humor, and liked to play the occasional practical joke. He was a great cook, although you might not always want to know what ingredients he used, and it took a while to clean the kitchen when he was finished cooking a meal. He imparted solid values to his children. Paul was loved, and he will be remembered always. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Cook Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Blvd, Austin, Texas 78752. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on November 18, 2016 at Cook Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Blvd, Austin, Texas 78752. To share condolence with the family, please visit
