Fernan, MarianFernan, Marian F. of Elmira, NY passed away peacefully at the Chemung County Nursing Facility on Jan. 7, 2017 at the age of 96. She was born on Sep. 18, 1920 in Elmira, NY; daughter of the late, Raymond & Nora Keane Shults. Marian is survived by her loving son, James (Kathleen) Fernan; grandchildren, Patrick (Suzanne) Fernan and Colleen Fernan; great granddaughter, Courtney Fernan; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces, great great nephews and several cousins. In addition to her parents, Marian was predeceased by her husband, Richard Fernan in 1982; son, William Fernan in 2005, sisters, Helen Ervin and Catherine Shults. Marian worked at Remington-Rand until its closure and then went on to work at St. Joseph's Hospital until she retired. She was a lifetime communicant of St. Mary's Church. Marian could often be found watching baseball games at Dunn Field and hockey games at First Arena. Family and friends will be received at Caywood's Funeral Home & Gardens, 1126 Broadway, Southport/Elmira, NY 14904 on Fri. Jan. 13, 2017 from 9-10 a.m. prayers will be offered at 10:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, 224 Franklin St. Elmira, NY 14904 at 11 a.m. Graveside committal prayers will be offered in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery following.
