John E. O'BrienAGE: 65 • Rockland, DEJohn E. O'Brien died peacefully in his home on Monday, May 29th, 2017 in Rockland, Delaware at the age of 65.John is survived by his wife, Dawn O'Brien; his two children, Liam O'Brien, of New York, NY and Maura O'Brien, of Wilmington, DE; his step-children Jesse and Steven James; his step-granddaughter Nevaeh James; his uncle Francis J. Maucher (wife Brenda Maucher); his aunt Margaret Szewczyk and many cousins. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Helen and Bill O'Brien of Centerville, DE. John was born on November 14, 1951 in Wilmington, DE to Bill and Helen (Rybienski) O'Brien. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School, University of Delaware and Lehigh University. He received degrees in engineering and had over forty years of experience in structural steel erection and fabrication with affiliated companies Falcon Steel and Helmark Steel. From 1976 to 2005, he served as President of Helmark Steel and Vice President of Falcon Steel. In 2005, John founded O'Brien Steel Consulting. John had a love for the beach, fishing, scuba diving, karate, traveling, cooking and fine wine. A funeral is scheduled for Wednesday, June 7th, 2017 from 11:00am - 1:00pm at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road. All are welcome to attend and celebrate John's life.
