Fannie M. Telfer "NiNi"PLEASANT VALLEY - Fannie Telfer, 96, a lifelong area resident, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2017, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 22, 1921. She was the sixth of seven children, born to the late, Frank and Ethel (Corbin) Benson. After graduating from Dover High School, Fannie attended Cochran School of Nursing and became a Registered Nurse. She served her country proudly as a nurse, earning the position of a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army, during the Asian Theater. After returning from the service she would meet her husband, James Telfer. On April 17, 1948 they were married in Dover Plains at the Methodist Church. That same year they moved to Pleasant Valley. She will be most notably remembered as the school nurse teacher at Titusville Elementary School, in the Arlington School District. She had special place in her heart for the children that she was entrusted to care for. In 1970, she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Russell Sage College. She was a 50 year plus member of the First Presbyterian Church of Pleasant Valley, and the Eastern Star. Also the Home Bureau, and The Merry Mix-ups.Fannie is survived by her devoted children; William and his wife Phyllis Telfer, Janice L. Marallo, Thomas George Telfer, and Barbara L. and her husband Edward Hackett. Her ten loving grandchildren; Gina Holodook, Jason & Justin Senesi, Kelly Geiger, Meghan Marallo Beard, Carrie Miles, Gina Marallo, Edward Hackett IV, and Colleen, and Jamie Hackett. Thirteen great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.In addition to her husband, she is predeceased by her siblings; Blanche Darling, Frank Benson Jr., Carmel Hastings, Mary Wamsley, Lewis Benson, and Kenneth Benson.Calling hours will be from 3:00 to 7:00 PM, on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Allen Funeral Home, 1605 Main Street, Pleasant Valley, New York. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM, on Wednesday, at the First Presbyterian Church in Pleasant Valley.
