SIDNEY — Douglas Sherman Klipstine, 59, of Sidney, passed away at 6:05 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, 2016, at home surrounded by his family.
He was born on Sept. 13, 1957, in Fort Aberdeen, Maryland, the son of the late Lt. Col. Charles Klipstine II and Dorothy "Dottie" (Lifer) Klipstine.
Douglas is survived by his wife, Cynthia; three sons, Steve (Megan) Klipstine, of Columbus, Harry Klipstine, of Akron, and Joey Klipstine, of St. Paris; three siblings, Marcia (Norman) Frantom, of Sidney, Bill (Betty) Klipstine, of California, and Jeff (Maryann) Klipstine, of Sidney; numerous nieces and nephews "worms," friends, and his beloved dog, Marvin.
Douglas was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving from 1976-79. He worked as an electrician and maintenance person for Advanced Composites. Douglas had a sharp-witted and humorous perspective on life. He loved making people laugh and spending time with his family and friends.
Funeral services with military honors provided by the U.S. Navy will be held Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016, at noon at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wilson Hospice Care in Douglas's memory.
