Dennis "Denny" "Smitty" SmithDennis "Denny" "Smitty" Smith, 68, passed away on October 23, 2016 at home after a brief illness. Smitty was born on November 7, 1947, graduated from Central High School in 1967, and the University of Akron in 1971.Denny began his working career as a salesman at Hallie's.He was a merchandise distributor at his own company, J & G International. He also worked as a Sales Associate in men's wear for a number of years. Denny then purchased and owned the Back Bar on Main Street in Akron's North Hill for many successful years until his retirement. Dennis loved trips to the casino and being around people, as well as being a fan of the Indians, Cav's and Browns.He was a member of St. Joseph Melkite Catholic Church.Denny worked hard all of his life to become successful, but maintained his devotion to his family as a son and nephew. His family & friends spoke highly of him and will always appreciate the care he provided them.He was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Faddle Smith; aunts, Kathryn, Vivian, Nellie; and cousin, Mary Ann Nahas. He will be greatly missed by cousin, Chaker Fadel, and life long friend, Tom Garcia and many other friends.Calling hours 6 - 8 p.m. Friday at Ciriello & Carr Funeral Home, 39 S. Miller Rd., Fairlawn 44333. Funeral services will be held 11a.m. Saturday at the funeral home where friends may also call 10 a.m. until service time. Entombment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
