Denise Medley died in her home on February 24, 2018, in Dallas, TX due to complications following lung cancer. She was 54.

Ms. Medley was born on July 15, 1964, in Chicago, IL to her parents, Sam and Janet Medley. She graduated from the University of Chicago with a degree in Elementary Education in 1994.  Denise dedicated her remaining time to educating and caring for her grandchildren, as well as leading prayer circles at her local church.

Ms. Medley was a patient and supportive teacher with a passion for literacy and the arts. She sang for the Astoria Women's Chorus and taught vocal and piano lessons to young students. Inspiring creativity and dedication in others was her life-long goal.

Ms. Jones is survived by her son, Brandon Weare of Dallas, TX; her daughter, Precious Davis of Milwaukee, WI; her brother, Charles Smith; and two grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, William; and her sister, Betty Smith;

Ms. Jones will be buried on March 9, 2018, after her memorial which will take place at 3:00 p.m. at Wicker Hall. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ms. Melodys' life. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Astoria Women's Chorus.
