POTTER Jr., David B."Fireman Friendly"Age 78, of Pine City, NY passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. David was born on January 30, 1938 in Sayre, PA, son of the late David Sr. and Helen (Ferrell) Potter. David served our country in the US Navy. He retired as Captain from the Elmira Fire Department after 41 years of service. David was very active with Notre Dame High School being a softball coach there for which he was inducted into the Notre Dame High School Hall of Fame. He worked 25 years for Erway Ambulance and was an EMT Instructor for many years at Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira. David is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Jean; daughters, Betsy Potter, Amy (Ed) Browning and their children, Taylor and Kylie, Mary Lohmuller and children, Alexa and Emily; sons, David (Jan) Potter and their children, Caitlin and Erin, Thomas (Peggy) Potter and their children, Paul and Mary Kate Renshaw, and Nicholas Potter; brothers, Donald (Phyllis), Stewart, Stanley (Delores) and Timothy (Sandra) Potter; several nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Betty Smith; brother-in-law, Michael (LuAnn) Smith; sister-in-law, Lynda DeRigge; Family and friends are invited to call Monday, December 26th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at the James D. Barrett Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held there on Tuesday, December 27th at 9 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Mary's Church at 224 Franklin St. in Elmira with Father John DeSocio as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery.
