Daniel A. YoungMemphis, TNage 92, died on March 9, 2017. He was born on November 8, 1924 to Daniel A. Young, Sr and Ethel Young. His parents and his sister, Peggy Dawson, preceded him in death. His wife, Mary Jane Young, survives him. Dan is also survived by his brothers Bill Young and Leroy Young and sisters, Patricia Wood and Joann Chatman, all of Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Dan lived in New Baden, Illinois when he entered the
Army and served for three years during World War II. He was stationed in Memphis in the Second Army Headquarters when he met and married Mary Jane Dugan. They were married for 71 years before his death. They have lived in a garden home at Kirby Pines Retirement Community for 12 years.Dan was employed by Nurre Glass Company for many years and then was a homebuilder until his retirement in 1990. He was a former charter member of Farmington Country Club where he enjoyed many years of golf.He was a member of the Catholic Church of the Resurrection where he previously served as a greeter.Visitation will be at Memphis Funeral Home Sunday, March 12, 2017 from 5pm-7pm with a Rosary immediately following. Funeral Mass will be at the Catholic Church of the Resurrection at 5475 Newberry Avenue, Monday, March 13, 2017 at 11 am followed by burial at Memorial Park Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Church of the Resurrection or the .
