Carlyle Jagar Kilpatrick, 90, husband of Roberta Miley Kilpatrick, passed away Sunday, September 16, 2018.
Carl was born February 2, 1928, in Charleston, the only son of Orin Carlyle Kilpatrick and Mildred Boone Sires Kilpatrick. He graduated from Carlisle Military School, attended Furman University and studied photography In Washington, DC. After service in the Air Force, Carl worked as a photographer/cinematographer for Charleston local television stations, WCIV-TV and WCSC. For over 20 years, he was a cinematographer for the MUSC Audiovisual Department. Of particular pride was his fifty years of filming Citadel football games, over 500 games, missing only two. He worked with six legendary head coaches and wowed alumni with his encyclopedic memory of each season. Known as the “Iron Man” for his dedication and stamina climbing the stairs to the press box into his 80’s, he was honored with induction into the Citadel Athletic Hall of Fame.
Carl was a lifetime member of the James Island Yacht club, where he enjoyed regattas and sailing his Hobie Cat. Golf was a favorite activity, playing with his buddies several days a week, making at least three “holes in one” in his lifetime.
